Global Impact Competition - Miami

With the prize of attending Singularity University’s (SU) Graduate Studies Program, SU holds competitions around the world to identify outstanding participants and promote entrepreneurship that will positively impact regions around the world.

This year, with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the 2015 Global Impact Competition Miami is inviting applicants to propose innovative solutions to sea level rise in South Florida. The competition is open to all U.S. residents, but ideas must focus on the challenge of sea level rise in South Florida. TWO winners from this competition will win the prize to attend the Graduate Studies Program during summer of 2015 at no charge

Do you have the next BIG IDEA to solve South Florida’s sea level rise?  How would you solve this and improve lives of millions of people in 3-5 years using technology?

Competition Rules

The competition is open to all US legal residents who believe in innovation and technology to solve sea level rise in South Florida.

  • You must be age 21 or older on the first day of the GSP.
  • Citizen or legal resident of the US
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Able to participate for the entire 10 weeks (13 June 2015- 23 August 2015) during GSP15

While the TWO winners will attend GSP15 free of charge with lodging and all meals provided, winners must independently obtain their medical insurance and pay for their own travel costs.

Singularity University’s Global Impact Competitions are held in partnership with sponsor organizations worldwide and organized by region and theme. These competitions act as a platform to identify outstanding entrepreneurs, leaders, scientists and engineers with the most innovative ideas for positively impacting millions of lives locally and globally within the next 3-5 years. The winner of each competition is invited to attend the Global Solutions Program free of charge.

Global Solutions Program

Singularity University’s Global Solutions Program (GSP) is a 10-week educational program held each year from June through August at our campus at the NASA Research Park in Silicon Valley. The GSP accepts 80 participants with multidisciplinary backgrounds who apply through direct admission or win Global Impact Competitions.

Participants are exposed to an intensive, interactive, multicultural experience combining curriculum on exponential technologies with peer-to-peer teaching and learning opportunities in addition to hands-on workshops and site visits. The GSP creates an unparalleled opportunity for participants to collaborate in small teams to design innovative technology solutions that will improve the lives of 1 billion people worldwide over the next decade.
